“A man builds a house in England with the expectation of living in it and leaving it to his children; we shed our houses in America as easily as a snail does his shell.” – Harriet Beecher Stowe
With the renovation project nearing the four month mark, and winter right around the corner, the house is almost sealed up. What started out as a garage is now resembling a home (from the outside, that is) and I could not be more thrilled!
My dad and I have spent late summer and fall raising the roof of the main structure, adding a second story, and constructing a deck off the second story.
I’ve logged some quality time with my paint brush over the last few months. After some deliberation, I decided to paint the exterior gray, with white trim. We went with Behr’s Fashion Gray in satin, which covered very well and only needed one coat after primer.
With the structure nearly sealed up for winter, we will soon be turning our attention to the interior portion. It’s safe to say that a bit of elbow grease and inspiration is in order. 😉
